It would seem that if you have any emotion at all toward God, it affirms that you believe He exists, and that He is supposed to be interacting with you. If you don’t have emotional reactions toward God, positive or negative, is He anything more than an impersonal, unconcerned force? What is He to you more than an inanimate object?
The walk of faith ought to be characterized by the discovery of ugly things. It’s our actions once we know them, that makes the difference.
